March 28th, 2024 – Peace of Mind for Rural Maternity in BC with Real-Time Virtual Support’s (RTVS) Maternity and Babies Advice Line (MaBAL) with Dr. Amy Sawchuck & Dr. Keeve de Villiers

Drs. Keeve de Villiers and Amy Sawchuk will present on the Maternity and Babies Advice Line, part of the Real-Time Virtual Support (RTVS) suite of peer support pathways. Family physicians with expertise in obstetrics are available 24/7 to support rural providers with maternity, newborn or women’s health issues. The service provides a safety net and peace of mind for rural providers and the communities they serve.

About the Presenters:

   

Dr. Amy Sawchuk, co-lead of the MaBAL pathway, is a Family Physician living on the traditional territory of the Tla’amin Nation, also known as Powell River. She has a longitudinal family practice, with a special interest in maternity and women’s health. Amy is the mother of two children and several furry children. She loves to spend time coaching soccer, hiking and at the beach.

   

Dr. Keeve de Villiers, co-lead of the MaBAL pathway, is a South African-trained Family Physician based on the tradition territory of the Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc, also known as Kamloops, BC. He works as a family practice obstetrician in rural BC and performs surgical obstetrics in rural BC. He tries his best to be a good husband and has his hands full with two dogs, two cats and a baby due in May.
