The National First Nations re:act Program
This session is provided to assist educators, health and human service workers, to understand the complex dynamic of abuse, neglect and self-neglect of vulnerable adults in First Nations communities.
This program was founded re:act (Adult Abuse & Neglect Resource) was founded through Vancouver Coastal Health’s ReAct Adult Protection Program.
In this webinar/videoconference the presenter will cover the learning objectives:

Identify the signs and indicators of abuse

Discuss roles and responsibilities of various agencies and services in preventing and responding to the mistreatment and abuse of older adults

Learn how to prevent and stop Elder abuse in your community

Explore the re:act tools and resources
A summary of outcome indicators with First Nations Communities who have been involved in this training over the past 2 years will also be shared.
About The Presenter
Patricia Bell is a registered nurse who works as a home care nurse advisor for First Nations Health Authority.
In this capacity, she has facilitated 16 “Responding to Elder Abuse” workshops throughout British Columbia.
She has experience in helping health staff, families, and communities deal with Elder abuse in a variety of settings. She is from northern Saskatchewan and currently lives in the north Okanagan with her husband.
