About the Presenters:

Our names are Ali Assu, Cody Assu and Valerie Lamirande. Together, we belong to the Haida, Kwakwaka’wakw, Wet’suwet’en First Nation. Bear Essential Oils and RavenSong Soap & Candle are local Indigenous wellness brands that honor cultural knowledge, community spirit and self care.

As RavenSong Soap & Candle was founded by a Haida Elder, Cody and I are now undergoing a 2-year mentorship pathway to ownership, to continue the legacy of our stories and our culture. Honoring our Indigenous traditions and history has enabled us to weave a common thread to the present, and we are always looking for opportunities for further connection and sharing through our products and stories

The topics we cover can often be sensitive or emotionally triggering. Please make sure that you are looking after yourself. If at any point you feel that you need to talk to a friend, Elder, counselor, or family member: don’t hesitate to do so. Check out our Counseling Support Page.
