About the Organization

The National Native Addictions Partnership Foundation Inc. (NNAPF) was formed by the National Partnership Committee on January 31, 2000.

NNAPF is committed to working with First Nations and Inuit to further the capacity of communities to address substance use and addiction. We promote a holistic approach to healing and wellness that values culture, respect, community, and compassion. Our top priority is developing a continuum of care that would be available to all Aboriginal people in Canada.

The Honouring Our Strengths document is the framework for this continuum – it outlines community development programs; services for the prevention, early identification, intervention, and treatment of addiction; and the important roles of mental health and well-being in all aspects of care.

About the Presenters

Raymond Deleary is the currently the Stakeholder Coordinator for the National Native Addictions Partnership Foundation. With a committed upbringing rooted in Indigenous knowledge ways, Raymond ensures that the essence of culture and identity are present in all forms of his work. The majority of Raymond’s experience has been in community development having played lead roles in Governance, Leadership Development and Economic Development. Raymond is an Ojibwe/Maawmee/Bodaywaadumee Anishinabe, Loon Clan, and currently resides in his home community of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation in south western Ontario along the Antler (Thames) River.

Michael (Mike) Martin’s 30 year career has included most facets of human resource management and related training, recruitment, governance-related work, as well as community/partnership development with public and private stakeholders in the oil/gas, forestry, and health sectors. His common interest approach to negotiation focuses on mutual, practical outcomes, where emotional intelligence lends itself to superior analytical, writing, problem solving, planning and strategizing skills. Mike is an experienced project manager/facilitator, certified trainer, and fluent in French and English.
