In this UBC Learning Circle session Cease Wyss will introduce us to a variety of dried medicines and some fresh medicines collected over the summer and fall in Coast Salish lands and waterways. Some of these medicines are available and accessible throughout the Pacific Northwest Coast and some interior places.
T’uy’tanat (toy-stin-naut) Cease Wyss (Skwxwu7mesh) is a plant picker and grower and gatherer, and media maker.
She maintains a blog called Indigenous Plant Diva and owns Tuuys Teas Company in her home territory Skwxwu7mesh. You can find her doing plant walks throughout the year in many places and helps coordinate a community garden called “Harmony Garden” in Humulch’sen (Capilano Reserve).

Cease Wyss (A.k.a. Indigenous Plant Diva) is an Ethnobotanist, Media Artist, Educator and Activist. Cease has been building her long term relationship with all things plant-life for 40 years. She currently is the project coordinator for 2 community gardens. She is also the owner and operator of T’Uy’Tanat Teas. She continues to study and also teach medicinal plants with her community and programs within the City of Vancouver. Cease continuously promotes sharing knowledge and culture, with diverse communities in the unceeded territory of her people and beyond.
