This workshop is oriented towards individuals and families who are at high risk for chronic illness such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Trying to prevent and manage these chronic illnesses can be hard work. The UBC Learning Circle welcomes back Registered Dietitian Rebecca Sovdi (First Nations Health Authority) to discuss some practical and realistic healthy eating and chronic disease prevention and management tips to living a balanced life that also includes enjoyment of life!
Learning session topics include:
- Practical tips to choosing whole/natural foods and minimizing processed foods
- Healthy eating on a budget and reducing waste
- Using other tools in the chronic disease management toolbox to complement and support healthy eating
- Resources available to you to support healthy eating choices

About the Presenter
Rebecca Sovdi is a Registered Dietitian and has worked in First Nations health for seven years. She completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters in Public Health at the University of Waterloo. She is passionate about promoting health through a wellness lens that helps others find balance and enjoyment in life. Rebecca grew up in a small town in southern Saskatchewan and now enjoys living as a visitor on traditional Coast Salish territory.
