The Circle is a series of episodes specifically for Aboriginal youth throughout BC. There are two Youth Circles per month. The Circle gives young Aboriginal people a place to express themselves, to be entertained and to learn and teach others about what’s going on and what they want to do in their communities.
We bring in guest speakers to talk about the many issues relevant to youth.
You in your community can be a speaker too! You are invited to share with the Youth Circle about the events you have going on, or the challenges that you’re facing and what you want to change or what you need help with. The Circle is an opportunity for you to get advice from others and to see how we can help each other, be inspired by each other and communicate regularly.
Some of the topics for the 2011-2012 season will be on:
- sexual health (once per month)
- hip hop
- fashion
- self-esteem
- sports
- gangs
- racism
- education
- youth-elder relations
- traditional teachings
How to participate in the Youth Circle:
The Youth Circle is available on video conference in communities throughout BC, and by streaming online.
For streaming online call Steve at 1-877-666-3211 or follow the instructions here: How to Stream a Video Conference. While streaming the Circle be sure to have the chat room open so that you can post questions to the speaker.
The Circle chat room is set up for you to post questions or comments about the episodes and to communicate directly with the speaker live while he/she is presenting. The presenter will answer your questions during the episode.
