“Addiction: The Phases of Recovery and Relapse: Part 2″ with Gil Lerat

On Thursday, February 16th, 2012, Gil Lerat returns to the UBC Learning Circle to lead the second part of a workshop around the process of recovery and relapse. This presentation will introduce participants to the three major phases of recovery and the process of relapse.  Understanding that relapse begins long before going back to the addiction.

About the Speaker

Gil Lerat has been a Personal Counsellor for over 15 years with the past 12 working as a Family Counsellor with Family Services of Greater Vancouver.  Gil’s background is in psychology and his specialization is in Chemical Dependency Counselling.  Prior to working with Family Services, Gil was employed with the Urban Native Youth Association and aided in the development of the Two-Spirit Youth Program and Young Bears Treatment Lodge in Vancouver.  Gil’s passion is in Program Development and has a produced a number of written reports that include Addictions, Intergenerational Effects of the Residential School System, Sexual Healing, Traditional Two-Spirit Roles in First Nations Communities and Traditional Practices and Healing for Aboriginal People Living with HIV/AIDS.
